Plusy Mezi biopaliva \u0159ad\u00edme bionaftu, biol\u00edh (bioetanol) a bioplyn, jsou tedy jak kapaln\u00e9ho tak plynn\u00e9ho skupenstv\u00ed. Z\u00e1kladem v\u00fdroby bionafty je \u0159epkov\u00fd olej, u biolihu je to cukrov\u00e1 \u0159epa nebo obil\u00ed, z\u00e1kladn\u00ed surovinou tak jsou cukry, \u0161kroby a oleje nebo zvl\u00e1\u0161\u0165 vyp\u011bstovan\u00e9 energetick\u00e9 rostliny. Dal\u0161\u00ed slo\u017ekou biopaliva mohou b\u00fdt nepo\u017eivateln\u00e9 potravin\u00e1\u0159sk\u00e9 plodiny. Bioplyn by m\u011bl nahradit b\u011b\u017en\u011b pou\u017e\u00edvan\u00e1 paliva pro motory, co\u017e by m\u011blo velice pozitivn\u00ed dopad, a to sni\u017eov\u00e1n\u00ed emis\u00ed CO2, \u010derp\u00e1n\u00ed fosiln\u00edch zdroj\u016f a vyu\u017eit\u00ed bioodpadu, v p\u0159\u00edrod\u011b se snadno rozkl\u00e1daj\u00edc\u00edho. Nespornou v\u00fdhodou samotn\u00e9 v\u00fdroby biopaliv je zpracov\u00e1n\u00ed a vyp\u011bstov\u00e1n\u00ed na stejn\u00e9m m\u00edst\u011b. Biomasy by mohly b\u00fdt vyu\u017eity i k vy\u010di\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed p\u016fdy zasa\u017een\u00e9 radioaktivn\u00edm spadem. M\u00ednusy Z\u00e1sadn\u00ed nev\u00fdhodou je, \u017ee p\u011bstov\u00e1n\u00ed plodin ur\u010den\u00fdch k v\u00fdrob\u011b biopaliva by byla zabr\u00e1na v\u011bt\u0161ina ploch ur\u010den\u00fdch k p\u011bstov\u00e1n\u00ed obil\u00ed a jin\u00fdch plodin, co\u017e by m\u011blo negativn\u00ed vliv jak na vy\u010derp\u00e1n\u00ed \u017eivin z p\u016fdy, ale i na vy\u0161\u0161\u00ed cenu potravin. Paradoxem je, \u017ee vyp\u011bstovan\u00e9 produkty by byly vyu\u017eity mimo potravin\u00e1\u0159sk\u00fd pr\u016fmysl, p\u0159itom v sou\u010dasn\u00e9 doby trp\u00ed hlady v\u00edce jak sto milion\u016f lid\u00ed. Dal\u0161\u00ed negativn\u00ed dopad by v\u00fdroba biopaliv m\u011bla na pralesy, co\u017e by vedlo k jejich z\u00e1niku, p\u0159itom prales je schopen vst\u0159ebat daleko v\u00edce CO2 ne\u017e nap\u0159\u00edklad os\u00e1zen\u00e9 pole. V\u00fdroba biopaliv tak\u00e9 vy\u017eaduje velkou spot\u0159ebu vody a um\u011ble vytv\u00e1\u0159en\u00fdch hnojiv, co\u017e by m\u011blo negativn\u00ed dopad na p\u0159\u00edrodu.  Paliva t\u0159et\u00ed generace V\u00fdroba tzv. paliv t\u0159et\u00ed generace je v sam\u00e9m prvopo\u010d\u00e1tku, z\u00e1kladem jejich v\u00fdroby by m\u011bly b\u00fdt vodn\u00ed \u0159asy. Dok\u00e1\u017e\u00ed toti\u017e nejen vst\u0159ebat CO2, ale vytv\u00e1\u0159et i obnovitelnou energii a v budoucnosti by mohly nahradit surovou ropu.
